Personality and hobbies

Mila is my first dog and the best thing so far that I have gotten myself into. She has taught me a lot about keeping a dog, especially about having a Rhodesian Ridgeback. All in all she has been quite an easy dog. My darling. There are not enough words to describe how much she means to me.

Mila is a lady. She has never rolled around in dirt and jumps over any mud pools or walks around them, she doesn't like to get her feet wet. It's very embarrassing for her if she somehow accidentally slips into a ditch, oh dear. It's hard for her to get on the ground without a mattress, blanket or even a carpet to protect her sensitive skin from dirt and cold. She will give out a bigh sigh until somebody puts out a blanket for her in the right place.

Mila's favourite passtimes are sleeping and eating. She is very greedy and everything even remotely edible will do. As if she is not fed enough at home. Mila is very precise about feeding time and knows exactly when the food should already be in the bowl. She uses cute tactics to get your attention when she is "hungry". The tactics hardly ever work though, as the owners only tend to laugh at her.

Mila is an unusually social Ridgeback. She greets everybody with enthusiasm and thinks people's grocery bags are for her. Mila is crazy about men, especially men aged 20-35 years. Her favourite people get to experience her love when she seeks attention by putting her head between a special someone's legs.

At home Mila is a real couch potato but informs about the doorbell like a real guard dog. She wouldn't hurt a fly though. Mila is very smart and often looks like she has all the worries of the world on her shoulders. She has deep wrinkles over her eyes and seems to think about things so hard that her forehead is hotter that others dogs' are.

Mila loves to run. In an open space she will go ballistic and sprint all around like a bunny. She has tried out some lure-coursing and started in an unofficial competition. We've also done some cani-cross but she seems to be a bit lazy about pulling me along. We've attended two courses in agility. Mila loves jumping and we have a lot of fun doing agility. I'm hoping to enter her in a unofficial competition next summer.
